Abstract :	The aim of this paper is to extend the application of game theory to the process of investment arbitration and to examine the strategies and the ability of the parties of a dispute to settle under different assumptions regarding their estimations of the probabilities at trial. In particular the research focuses on the extent and factors which determine the maximum settleable disagreement in investment disputes when the parties exhibit relative optimism. The article closes with an empirical application of the findings and some policy options for increasing the settleability of investment disputes as suggested by the game theory analysis. Ο σκοπός της παρούσας διπλωματικής εργασίας είναι να επεκτείνει την εφαρμογή της θεωρίας των παιγνίων στη διαδικασία της διαιτησίας διαφορών διεθνούς δικαίου των επενδύσεων και να εξετάσει τις διαθέσιμες στρατηγικές και την ικανότητα των διαδίκων να επιτυγχάνουν διακανονισμό υπό διαφορετικές υποθέσεις όσον αφορά τις εκτιμήσεις τους για τις πιθανότητες στη δίκη. Ειδικότερα, η έρευνα επικεντρώνεται στην έκταση και τους παράγοντες που καθορίζουν τη μέγιστη διευθετήσιμη διαφωνία στις επενδυτικές διαφορές όταν τα μέρη παρουσιάζονται σχετικά αισιόδοξα. Το άρθρο κλείνει με μια εμπειρική εφαρμογή των ευρημάτων και μερικές πιθανές πολιτικές για αύξηση των διευθετήσεων των επενδυτικών διαφορών, όπως προκύπτουν από την εφαρμογή της θεωρίας παιγνίων.

Abstract :
