Fiscal policy and macroeconomic performances

Abstract

A survey on public spending from the late nineteenth century up to the twenty-first century as a historical perspective upon different government sectors such as education, health, pensions and employment. I make a comparison on different size on governments with newly industrialized countries reaching to a conclusion that a need for reforming the government seems mandatory. Following on the analysis of an endogenous growth model showcasing the fact that for the government to maximize the growth rate, it sets its share of (GDP), to equal the share it would get if public services were a competitively supplied input of production. I finish off this research with examples of countries in which a reform has taken place and how this improved or not the economic performance of the state.Μια έρευνα πάνω στην διαμόρφωση των κρατικών εξόδων από το 1870 μέχρι και τα τέλη του 20ου αιώνα, ακολουθούμενη από προτάσεις διαμόρφωσης του κρατικού τομέα σε ένα σύγχρονο και οικονομικά ανεξάρτητο κοινωνικό κράτος. Επιπλέον γίνεται μια αναφορά και ανάλυση πάνω στο μοντέλο του Barro (1990) σχετικά με το πώς μπορεί να μεταβληθεί το ποσοστό των κρατικών εξόδων στο (ΑΕΠ) ώστε να επιτύχουμε βέλτιστη ανάπτυξη. Τελειώνοντας παρουσιάζω παραδείγματα χωρών στις οποίες έγινε μια αναδιαμόρφωση του κρατικού τομέα και τα αποτελέσματά του.
