Abstract

The aim of the paper was to provide meaningful insights regarding the Greek Water Polo League, analyze and compare team statistics and show the applicability of analytics in sports. In the present paper, the study showed a supervised machine learning algorithm used to model sports data. The prevailing algorithm for predicting results is a Support Vector Mechanism, with a second-degree Polynomial Kernel. The model was trained on data of the Greek Water Polo League, without considering any time-varying covariatesΣκοπός της εργασίας ήταν να παράσχει ουσιαστικές γνώσεις σχετικά με την ελληνική υδατοσφαίριση, να αναλύσει και να συγκρίνει τις στατιστικές των ομάδων και να δείξει την εφαρμογή των στοιχείων στον αθλητισμό.
