The rapid change of technology in today's information environment has greatly reduced the lifespan of digital objects. The menacing volume of digital information created so easily nowadays, makes digital preservation essential, something that leads to a pressing challenge. Libraries, museums, universities and all the “temples of knowledge”, should design a strategic and flexible plan for digital preservation, to save their material and to deliver it to future generations. Our society has a great interest in the preservation of material in order to capture lectures, events and ideas. Different strategies such as migration and emulation have been proposed. Digital preservation as the effort to preserve digital objects for a specific purpose for a long time has become a highly recognized issue during recent years. The planning, resource allocation, and implementation of preservation methods and technologies are needed to ensure that digital information remains accessible and usable. However it is not a simple process. When we talk about digital preservation we refer to long-term storage and preservation of digital information, and access to them. Frequent use of “long” term encompasses not only the period of some decades, but also that of centuries and millennia. Digital preservation is a set of actions and processes that contribute to the perpetuation of the digital material. The aim of digital preservation is to create the same quality look and feel, content integrity, stability, reference and provenance.
