Abstract

The following thesis is an attempt to estimate the efficiency of introducing fluoride into bonding agents in order to prevent decalcification inorthodontic patients. The data used was collected from the literature review by Rogers et al. and for their exploration the Meta-analysis method was utilized. The trials included in the initial review were studied into detail and checked for differences and similarities. Finally their results were gathered, for the onesthat it was possible, and used in the calculations. After processing the data it was found that the inclusion of fluoride in the orthodontic adhesives reduces the possibility for decalcification to appear by 31%. No statistically significant difference was observed between composite, enriched with fluoride, and glass ionomer on the prevention of decalcification.
