Exploring the relationship between inflation and container freight rates

Abstract

Σκοπός της παρούσας διατριβής είναι να προσδιορίσει τη συσχέτιση μεταξύ του πληθωρισμού και των ναύλων μεταφοράς εμπορευματοκιβωτίων. Η ανάλυση αυτής της διατριβής διαπίστωσε ότι υπάρχει σημαντική σχέση μεταξύ των ναύλων μεταφοράς εμπορευματοκιβωτίων και του πληθωρισμού. Η ανάλυση αποκάλυψε ότι οι ναύλοι εμπορευματοκιβωτίων έχουν αντίκτυπο στον πληθωρισμό. Για τον προσδιορισμό αυτής της σχέσης χρησιμοποιείται ένας συνδυασμός ποιοτικών και ποσοτικών μεθόδων. Η συγκεκριμένη μελέτη θα είναι σημαντική για όσους ενδιαφέρονται για τη ναυτιλία και πιο συγκεκριμένα για τον κλάδο των εμπορευματοκιβωτίων. Αυτή η διατριβή θα παρέχει επίσης νέες γνώσεις σχετικά με αυτήν την περίπλοκη σχέση μεταξύ του πληθωρισμού και των ναύλων μεταφοράς εμπορευματοκιβωτίων. The purpose of this dissertation is to identify the correlation between inflation and container freight rates. The analysis of this dissertation found that there is a significant relationship between the container freight rates and inflation. The analysis revealed that container freight rates have an impact on inflation. A combination of qualitive and quantitative methods are used in order to identify this relationship. A comprehensive overview of the subject was provided through the existing bibliography and theory.This particular study will be important for those who are interested in shipping and more specifically in the containership market. This dissertation will also provide new insights into this complex relationship between inflation and container freight rates. Generally, the below dissertation provides an overall analysis of the complex correlation between inflation and container freight rates, based on theoretical and empirical practices, in order to provide a complete understanding of this topic.
