As a result, people are trying to adjust every aspect of their everyday life to thenew reality, transforming even the way they perform financial transactions. One of thosetechnologies that has gained widespread acceptance in recent years is the digital wallet. In the context of the thesis, we aimed to identify which of the key digital wallet features affectusers’ perception regarding the wallet’s offered benefits and how the individuals’ personalitycan affect this perception. For that purpose, with reference to theories explaining individualbehavior and models explaining attitudes towards technology, we formulated the conceptualmodel that was applied for the needs of our research. In particular, the proposed modelutilized was a combination of the well-known Information System (IS) success model ofDelone & Mclean and the Five-Factor model of personality, along with our sensemaking. Thesurvey conducted in order to test our model, concerned digital wallet users living in Greece. The results of the research indicated that the information and service quality offered by thedigital wallet enhances users’ perception of the provided benefits which in turn boosts usersatisfaction and encourages further and more frequent use. On the contrary, user’sperception regarding the benefits that the digital wallet offers as a result of its overall qualitywas found that it cannot be significantly affected by the user’s personality. Nonetheless, studyresults showed that individuals with high agreeableness and those who are extroverted tendto recognize the benefits that digital wallets offer to a greater extent. The importance of the current study leans to the fact that it incorporates personality traits asmoderating factors in order to examine technology acceptance. Furthermore, this researchfocuses on a technology that has not been examined thoroughly yet. Therefore, it can be an enabler for both the academic community as well as for the business.
