In this thesis we apply cox regression analysis and survival forests to data from a large clinical trial. The data have been masked for reasons of confidentiality. A brief description of basic ideas in survival analysis needed for the development of the model are provided in Chapter 2. Chapter 3 provides a description of the dataset to be used. Preliminary results with standard survival methodology are given in chapter 4 and 5. Chapter 4 provides descriptive evidence about the data while Chapter 5 presents results from a standard Cox proportional model. The new results based on survival random forest are presented in Chapter 6. Concluding remarks and a discussion is provided ion Chapter 7.
