Τεκμήριο Interaction between the organizational context and ICT interventions: evidence from a public organization in Greece(2020) Chaniotaki, Eleni; Χανιωτάκη, Ελένη; Athens University of Economics and Business, Department of Management Science and Technology; Pouloudi, Nancy; Doukidis, George I.; Soderquist, Eric-Klas; Loukis, Euripides; Poulymenakou, Angeliki; Zamani, Efpraxia; Lekakos, GeorgiosThis exploratory and interpretive research examines the impact of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) interventions in Public Administration through the lens of a Document Management System (DMS) implementation project in a Greek Ministry. A single case study design was the basis of the data collection process. Data were collected during a total of six years of fieldwork including participant observation, in-depth interviews and extracts of system logfile data. Grounded theory was used both for data analysis and theory building. Having as a starting point the culture and power organizational metaphors, the context-related findings of this research resulted in the construction of a theoretical framework, supplementing the existing literature on organizational culture and power with respect to ICT interventions and IT-enabled change. This framework shows how culture and power are at play in a context of high ambiguity, namely a context with a high degree of uncertainty, contradictions and confusion, shedding light to the specific contextual conditions related to authority, legitimacy, influence and respect, as well as the resulting singularities in how management and leadership are exercised. The findings of this research suggest that, within an organizational context of ambiguity, management may have limited capability to shape the organizational culture, which is desirable prior to an ICT intervention. In such environments, the interplay between the organizational conditions and culture, further enforces cultural rigidity, rendering the organization incapable to cope with a social context where digital transformation has a central role. Policy makers are advised to give themselves space and time to understand and appreciate the culture in the organization where they plan to make an intervention and place human actors at the center of any IT-related change attempt.Τεκμήριο Turning physical into digital in the TELCOS industry(31-03-2023) Καμινιώτη, Στυλιανή; Kaminioti, Stela; Athens University of Economics and Business, Department of Management Science and Technology; Korfiatis, Nikolaos; Poulymenakou, Angeliki; Lekakos, GeorgiosΣκοπός της διπλωματικής είναι ο εντοπισμός συγκεκριμένων συμπεριφεριακών μοτίβων των καταναλωτών, αναφορικά με την απόφαση για την επιλογή του κατάλληλου τύπου καναλιού (φυσικά έναντι ψηφιακών καναλιών), έτσι ώστε να καθαριστούν οι παράγοντες για την επιλογή των φυσικών καναλιών και συνεπώς αυτή η επιλογή να μετατοπιστεί στα ψηφιακά κανάλια. Η ανάλυση στηρίζεται σε τρεις πυλώνες:Ποιος – Ποιος είναι ο πελάτης που προτιμά τα ψηφιακά ή τα φυσικά κανάλια αντίστοιχα;Γιατί – Ποιοι είναι οι καθοριστικοί παράγοντες που καθορίζουν την επιλογή των φυσικών ή ψηφιακών καναλιών αντιστοίχως;Πότε – Σε ποια φάση του ταξιδιού του πελάτη επιλέγεται το κάθε είδος καναλιού;Τεκμήριο Usability evaluation of Spitogatos portal pages(2022) Boumpari, Danai; Μπουμπάρη, Δανάη; Athens University of Economics and Business, Department of Business Administration; Vrechopoulos, Adam; Fraidaki, Katerina; Lekakos, GeorgiosThe scope of this thesis was the development of a usability evaluation framework in order toassess the Spitogatos portal in line with the thesis guidelines. The ultimate goals of the studywere i) to research the usability challenges on the thesis pages, ii) to offer suggestions forimprovements, and iii) to demonstrate possible solutions (both specific and generic). At the beginning of the research, the theoretical background was brought together to inform thefurther study. Surveying and traditional in-lab moderated testing were utilized as they areconsidered to be efficient and cost-effective techniques to compose a usability testingframework. In total, 15 representative users participated in the study. The user groupsegmentation was primarily based on gathered data about the portal's visitors. For usabilitytesting, various methods and techniques have been employed, such as Concurrent ThinkingAloud protocol (CTA), pre-test and post-test System Usability Scales (SUS), as well asobservations. The study findings revealed that the overall level of the ease of use of theSpitogatos thesis pages was way above the industry average. Learnability of the portal was alsomeasured as relatively high and the usability score alone achieved an excellent level. Theevaluation helped to detect a few areas where usability improvements were needed. Each areawas then evaluated and several generalizations were made, in the form of suggestions forpossibly interested UX designers or Product Owners. As demonstrated by the researchoutcomes, the designed testing framework efficiently serves the objective of usability evaluation. Thus, it is recommended to accommodate the framework in the design process.
