Abstract

Τα βασικά ερωτήματα διατυπώνονται με σαφήνεια στο Κεφάλαιο 3 με τη μορφή ελέγχου εναλλακτικών υποθέσεων και η απάντησή τους αναλύεται εμπειρικά στο Κεφάλαιο 5 της μελέτης. Η υπόλοιπη εργασία διαρθρώνεται ως εξής: στο Κεφάλαιο 2 διενεργείται παρουσίαση του θεωρητικού πλαισίου και βασικών εννοιών που είναι απαραίτητες για την κατανόηση της εμπειρικής διαδικασίας. Στο Κεφάλαιο 3 ακολουθεί μια εκτενής επισκόπηση της υπάρχουσας βιβλιογραφίας και αναπτύσσονται οι σχετικές υποθέσεις που πρόκειται να εξεταστούν και στο Κεφάλαιο 4 περιγράφεται το δείγμα και η μεθοδολογία που θα ακολουθηθεί κατά την εμπειρική μελέτη. Στο Κεφάλαιο 5 παρουσιάζονται τα εμπειρικά αποτελέσματα και τέλος, στο Κεφάλαιο 6 συνοψίζονται τα βασικά συμπεράσματα.

The assessment of the relationship between supply chain management (SCM) and the financial performance of enterprises is the subject of many empirical studies. This work extended the study by Chen et al. (2018) using European business data and studying the effect on market value of normal and abnormal inventory changes. We use a sample of 82,327 observations (7,426 unique companies) between 1985 and 2015. We then examine assumptions that measure across-the-board the changes in the market value of inventories in relation to three factors contributing to the effectiveness of SCM. Thus, we rely on the bibliography on SCM to develop these three hypotheses by concluding some conclusions and theories with the help of the economic tool. Our empirical results have provided strong support for the above hypotheses. This study contributes to expanding that of Chen et al. (2018) and the European economic reality of the last decades and verifies that their conclusions apply to it, apart from the US market. At the same time, it offers a technique for separating the market value of changes in inventories and controls affairs that affect factors that affect the value of the business. The key questions are clearly set forth in Chapter 3 in the form of alternative case control and their answer is analyzed empirically in Chapter 5 of the study. The rest of the thesis is structured as follows: Chapter 2 presents a presentation of the theoretical framework and basic concepts necessary to understand the empirical process. Chapter 3 follows an extensive review of the existing literature and the related hypotheses to be examined are developed and in Chapter 4 the sample and the methodology to be followed in the empirical study are described. Chapter 5 presents the empirical results and, finally, Chapter 6 summarizes the main conclusions, and the bibliographic review is presented last.
