Τεκμήριο Crafting the extra innovation: from job crafting to innovative behavior(2017) Paraskevopoulou, Louiza; Παρασκευοπούλου, Λουίζα; Athens University of Economics and Business, Department of Marketing and Communication; Nikandrou, Irene; Panagiotopoulou, Leda; Chytiris, Leonidas; Galanaki, Eleanna; Kyriakidou, Olivia; Kontos, Pavlos; Apospori, EleniThe dissertation focused on active employees and answered the question: ‘How do some employees go the extra mile and achieve self initiated, extra role, highly innovative outcomes in a non-supportive environment while others do not?”. Observing highly active Greek public employees introducing innovative changes within their job against environmental barriers was the trigger to formulate the research question. Job crafting theory along with individual innovative behavior was the theoretical basis of the research. As both theories could not explain the observed self initiated, innovative, extra role behavior in non supportive environments, the philosophical insights of Hannah Arendt filled that gap by presenting action as the actualization of human potential that may reach to the ‘unexpected’. A qualitative study explained that phenomenon (namely extra innovative behavior), while a quantitative study provided empirical support. A new scale of the job crafting behavior and the extra innovative behavior were also developed since the ones presented in the literature could not capture the highly innovative employees.
