Τεκμήριο Usability evaluation of Spitogatos portal pages(2022) Boumpari, Danai; Μπουμπάρη, Δανάη; Athens University of Economics and Business, Department of Business Administration; Vrechopoulos, Adam; Fraidaki, Katerina; Lekakos, GeorgiosThe scope of this thesis was the development of a usability evaluation framework in order toassess the Spitogatos portal in line with the thesis guidelines. The ultimate goals of the studywere i) to research the usability challenges on the thesis pages, ii) to offer suggestions forimprovements, and iii) to demonstrate possible solutions (both specific and generic). At the beginning of the research, the theoretical background was brought together to inform thefurther study. Surveying and traditional in-lab moderated testing were utilized as they areconsidered to be efficient and cost-effective techniques to compose a usability testingframework. In total, 15 representative users participated in the study. The user groupsegmentation was primarily based on gathered data about the portal's visitors. For usabilitytesting, various methods and techniques have been employed, such as Concurrent ThinkingAloud protocol (CTA), pre-test and post-test System Usability Scales (SUS), as well asobservations. The study findings revealed that the overall level of the ease of use of theSpitogatos thesis pages was way above the industry average. Learnability of the portal was alsomeasured as relatively high and the usability score alone achieved an excellent level. Theevaluation helped to detect a few areas where usability improvements were needed. Each areawas then evaluated and several generalizations were made, in the form of suggestions forpossibly interested UX designers or Product Owners. As demonstrated by the researchoutcomes, the designed testing framework efficiently serves the objective of usability evaluation. Thus, it is recommended to accommodate the framework in the design process.
